Case Study 5: Elect Good People

Elect Good People is a civic engagement project dedicated to uplifting down-ballot Democratic candidates and encouraging participation in local elections. The goal of this initiative was to make politics more accessible by interviewing candidates, sharing their stories, and publishing in-depth write-ups to help voters make informed decisions. My role involved leading creative direction, shaping an inclusive brand voice, managing social media strategy, creating compelling visual content, and developing messaging that inspired civic action and community connection.

My Role & Implementation

Establishing a Clear, Hopeful Brand Voice:

I developed a strong, mission-aligned brand identity that emphasized civic optimism, accessibility, and inclusivity. This involved refining the tone of our messaging across platforms to make politics feel more human, hopeful, and community-rooted.

Spotlighting Local Candidates Through Storytelling:

I conducted interviews with down-ballot Democratic candidates, then wrote in-depth, accessible write-ups that helped voters connect with their values, experiences, and visions for their communities. These features gave visibility to lesser-known voices and helped encourage voting in local elections.

Creating Impactful Social Media Content:

I designed and scheduled original content for Instagram and other platforms that broke down local races, introduced candidates, and promoted civic participation. Each post was visually engaging and intentionally designed to make complex political topics feel personal and empowering.

Building a Digital Civic Community:

Through consistent content and interaction, I helped foster a digital environment where followers felt informed, inspired, and included. Our audience didn’t just engage– they shared, showed up, and voted.

Leading Visual Direction Across Platforms:

I oversaw the creative direction of our brand visuals, including candidate graphics, campaign highlights, and merchandise design. Every element reflected our mission and made our work feel approachable and community-powered.

Driving Voter Awareness with Strategic Messaging:

I wrote and edited all public-facing copy– from Instagram captions to website bios, ensuring every piece of communication encouraged curiosity, civic action, and deeper engagement in local politics.

Measurable Results

Grew the Platform from Zero to 1,400+ Instagram Followers:

Through consistent branding, compelling storytelling, and civic-focused content, I organically built a digital community from the ground up– turning the Elect Good People Instagram into a trusted space for local election engagement.

Featured Over 150 Down-Ballot Candidates:

By conducting interviews and publishing original write-ups, I helped bring visibility to more than 150 local candidates, creating a library of accessible political content for voters across multiple regions.

Increased Community Engagement Around Local Elections:

Our storytelling-driven approach led to consistent follower interaction, shares, and conversations—encouraging people to engage with elections that might have otherwise gone unnoticed.
